Adopting solar is both Environmental and Economical

As more Singaporeans adopted the mindset of sustainability and being more aware of the advantages of adopting solar which is not just limited to both envrionmental and economical.

Singapore’s solar adoption growth rate has been nothing short of impressive, with both residential and non-residential building owners both adopting solar. We will be sharing it with you later below. The numbers are even more impressive considering our city landscape and SolarPVExchange would like to thank all of you who have played a part in making our garden city, greener.

We at SolarPVExchange deeply believe on the application of solar, especially when it comes to our sunny island. We have two products, SunQuote (to help more people find out what’s their roof solar potential) and SunVest (to let more people do their part for the environment) to help more fellow Singaporeans go solar.

We would like to share two examples of our past projects below for you to understand why you should join the solar revolution.

We would also like to share with you an EMA (Energy Market Authority) table on Singapore’s Installed Capacity of Grid-Conencted Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems between 2008 and Q3 2016.

31rsu

Source: Energy Market Authority, 15 Nov 2016
https://www.ema.gov.sg/cmsmedia/Publications_and_Statistics/Statistics/31RSU.pdf

At the end of 2008, the total installed capacity of grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems in Singapore is only about 0.4MWp (MegaWatt peak) or 400kWp (kiloWatt peak). This has grown to 1.9MWp the following year of 2009, a 375% growth. The past 3 years has been amazing with the lowest growth at 80%. We can only hope to keep this trend going and to also help Singapore achieve the aim of meeting the Paris Agreement by 2030.

The first three quarters of 2016 itself have seen a total 54.3MWp of grid-connected solar PV systems, about 48% of our entire total grid-connected installed capacity thus far.

SUNVEST: CROWDFUND NOW AND SAVE EVEN MORE!

untitled

Dear Home & Building (Commercial & Industrial) owners,
Here’s your chance to go Solar with ZERO Upfront Costs and save on your Monthly Energy Bill with our SunVest scheme for both
1.Commercial and Industrial Buildings
2.Residential (Landed) Home Owners

Our SunVest Scheme will help you crowdfund for your system so that you don’t have to pay for anything upfront and enjoy monthly energy savings with your new solar PV system!

For SunVest C&I (Commercial & Industrial) Scheme, you can now defer your installation costs over 36 monthly payments.

For SunVest Resi (Residential owners) Scheme, home owners can now defer their installation costs over 12 monthly payments.

Here are a few considerations and tips before you decide to crowdfund for your solar PV system.

1. Roof/Building Condition
Next, your roof has to be of good condition and be able to take the weight of the solar PV panels.
Not to worry, before any installation, an experienced person will check the condition of your roof before commencing any work.

2. Ownership of building
Firstly, you must be the owner or master lessee of the building. If you are the lessee, it would be advisable for you to have at least 20 years remaining in your lease as that’s the general lifespan for your solar panels.

3. Return of Investment (ROI)
Typically, a residential scale solar PV system has a 8-11 years return of investment while a commercial scale solar PV system has a 6-9 years return of investment.

4. Roof Size
This is where the term “Economies of Scale” matters. Ideally, the minimum roof space to build a solar PV system should be more than 32sqm for there to have acceptable savings to cost benefits .

5. Roof Angle
If your roof angle is very steep, it might not be ideal to install solar PV panels on your roof as it could be infeasible and also dangerous.
Best to email us with photos of your roof so that we can help you assess the viability.

6. Monthly energy bill and daytime energy consumption
If your monthly energy bill is low ($150 and below for residential), and if you don’t use a lot of energy during the day, then it would take a longer time for your return of investment on your solar PV system as most of the generated energy will be exported to the grid.

So does your building fit the considerations mentioned?
If yes, contact us sunvest@solarpvex.com to get a quote for your solar PV system and crowdfund for it.

SUNVEST: CROWDFUND NOW AND SAVE EVEN MORE!

Steps to crowdfunding your very own solar PV system.

  1. First email your building address (which you want to install solar) together with your past 3-6 months’ energy bill to sunvest@solarpvex.com
  2. We will then arrange for a site visit at your building so that we can finalise the size of your solar PV system.
  3. After that, we will prepare a SunVest agreement for your perusal, which will state your monthly repayment over the agreed tenure.
  4. Once the SunVest agreement is agreed and signed, we will crowdfund for your solar PV system and once the monies are raised, you will soon get a brand new solar PV system on your building and start enjoying savings on your energy bill.

Update: Single Largest Residential Solar PV System in Singapore

img-20161018-wa0004

Hi all,

Update on the “Single Largest Residential Solar PV System in Singapore” that we have closed earlier this year.

Installation works are underway for this 54.18kWp, 172 pieces of 315Wp solar panels system. Projected to save about $1,180* per month and a total of $333,493* over 20 years, this solar PV system is a prime example of how quick and easy this system can be installed.

The photos shows how solar panels are installed upon a metal roof, with no penetration to your roof.

Clamps are used to clamp onto the seams of the metal roof and the solar panels are then secureded atop of the clamps.

A really quick and straightforward installation.

Stay tuned to this page for more updates on the Single Largest Residential Solar PV System in Singapore!

Crowd fund for your solar PV system with SunVest

20150320_132652*the above photo is not of actual roof

Dear home and building owners

Did you know that you can now crowdfund for your new Solar PV system? And it applies to both commercial and residential owners.

With our new SunVest (crowdfunding) service, SolarPVExchange will now be able to crowdfund for your Solar PV system with our green investors.

Our SunVest (crowdfunding) service is rather simple.

First, we will send our solar installer to do a site visit and take a look at your roof to determine the size of your system.

Next, once the Solar PV system and costs of the system is finalised with you, we will then start our SunVest (crowdfund) campaign to raise funds for your Solar PV system.*

Lastly, instead of paying one lump sum for your system, you can now pay in smaller installments per month over the agreed tenure (which ranges from 1-3 years).

As you can see from a newspaper article (http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/environment/bukit-timah-penthouse-gets-power-from-the-sun), Mr Pho is one example of a home owner using our SunVest service to crowd fund for his home’s new Solar PV system.

By crowd funding for his Solar PV system with us, Mr Pho not only gets to enjoy savings on his electrical bill (from the energy generated from solar) but he can also now pay for his system in smaller monthly installments instead of one lump sum.

Let’s look at how a typical home owner can benefit from crowdfunding for his solar PV system.

E.g. Mr A decides to go ahead with a Solar PV system that costs approximately $80,000 (after SolarPVExchange sends our solar installer for a site visit and assessement) and by doing so, it will generate approximately $679.58 worth of savings every month.

Assuming Mr A wishes to pay for his solar PV system in installment over a 3 years period, he will only need to pay $2377.80/month while saving him $679.58/month from his electrical bills.

This means that Mr A will only be in fact, paying a total of $60,599.55 (see table below) over 3 years, instead of $80K in one lump sum. This means Mr A actaully saves another $19,400.45 for his solar PV system by crowdfunding for it. Not a bad deal.

Year 1 2 3
Principal $80,000.00 $53,333.00 $26,667.00
Monthly Repayment $2377.80 $2377.80 $2377.80
Monthly Savings** $679.58 $694.37 $709.48
Nett Monthly Repayment $1698.22 $1683.43 $1668.32
Annual Total Nett Repayment $20378.59 $20,201.14 $20,019.82
Total Nett Repayment $60,599.55

**With added inflation rates

Now here comes the best part!

After 3 years, this Solar PV system will fully belong to Mr A which will continuie to generate free green energy over the expected lifespan*** of his solar PV system, bringing his total savings to $160,594.59

This means that Mr A’s solar PV system will pay for itself twice over!

So if you would like to start going solar with our SunVest (crowd fund) or you just simply want to own and purchase a solar PV system to enjoy monthly savings with clean energy, email us with your name and contact to enquiries@solarpvex.com and we will get back to you asap.

SunVest for a greener future!

***Expected lifespan of solar PV panels is 20-25years pending on the brand of panels

Singapore’s 1st Condo Solar PV Project Completed!

0fbd012b-4104-4bdb-8e58-28a425399dd9

In June 2016, SolarPVExchange has successfully crowdfunded (via SunVest) the very first crowdfunded Condo solar PV project in Singapore.

By crowdfunding his solar PV project, the condo owner, Mr Pho is able to defer his one time payment over 12 months while obtaining a brand new solar PV system for his condo. What this means is that he will enjoy savings once his system is built and part of his monthly repayment will be offset by his monthly energy bill savings

“$24,000 might be a lot of money, but every month we are saving a few hundred dollars as well just from generating savings from our electrical bill” – Home Owner Mr Pho.

So if you, like Mr Pho, would like to start going solar by either purchasing it or crowdfunding for it , email to us your name and contact to enquiries@solarpvex.com and we will get back to you asap.

Single Largest Residential Solar PV System in Singapore

lorongkismis

Hi all, SolarPVExchange has set another record by closing the Single Biggest Residential Solar PV System in Singapore. At 54.18kWp(system size), it consists of 172 pieces of solar panels that covers 344m2 of the roof space.

This solar PV system could possibly help the home owner reduce his electricity bill by about $13,800 per year and a total of about $415,400 over 20 years, which is the expected lifespan of the solar PV panels.

This Singapore solar powered house will reduce the owner’s carbon footprint by generating 67,000kWh of green energy annually, or 29 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to planting 745 trees!

Solar 101 (August 25th – 26th)

solar101-3

On August 25th and 26th, we have conducted our Solar 101 course (2 days) with SEAS (Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore).

The class was filled with SCEMs (Singapore Certified Energy Manager), that were looking to learn more about replacing their companies’ reliance on conventional energy with green energy via solar. Other than learning more about the basics of Singapore solar PV systems, the Solar 101 course also counts towards your SCEM points.

This 2-day INTRODUCTION TO SOLAR-101 course accommodates a wide range of individuals that do not have any specific skillset or competence in the Solar PV energy industry, (and any renewable energy industry for that matter), but who are very interested to know a bit more about the subject.

It is anticipated that after completing this training course, the individual will have a much better understanding of what is involved, along with understanding the fundamentals, thought processes and ultimately better decide whether to move forward and pursue further additional training within the solar PV energy sector.

We have Jason Law as trainer who is deep in the solar industry himself, to share his experience and knowledge on the local solar PV industry.

Interested to participate in the Solar 101 course to learn more about how solar pv systems work? Email us at: enquiries@solarpvex.com

SunVest (Crowdfund) Singapore’s 1st Residential Solar PV Project

Screen Shot 2016-09-02 at 17.10.10

In June 2016, we successfully crowdfunded our very first residential SunVest project for Ms Joyce Goh’s very own solar PV system of 4.725kWp. Through SunVest, her house in the upper Bukit Timah area is now powered by solar.

Sunpro Energies, our partner shares our vision to further the number of Singapore solar houses by defraying the initial capital outlay to the home owner, through a joint solar crowdfunding programme.

“We are pleased to use Sunvest to fund our project under the Solar Outlay Support programme. It is beneficial to all parties and the owner is able to get great savings!” – SunPro Energies

We would like to thank our green investors for participating in SunVest, designed to help more people to put solar panels on their rooftop and also lower Singapore’s carbon footprint, in view of a greener nation.

Joyce’s solar PV system has now commissioned and she will be enjoying clean and green energy of her own, as well as the savings it generates.

“I’m driving an electric car, and when I get my building materials, I try to get recycled materials … Solar energy was in line with what I wanted and what I believe in,” -Ms Joyce Goh

Your solar PV system not only offsets your consumption of energy, but the excess can be exported for a rebate to you as the home owner.

Why wait to go green and do your part for our environment, call us now!
